Something about yourself
Ann Brody is a cultural researcher and ethnographer. She completed her doctoral work in Communication Studies at McGill University, where she embedded herself in the strange and speculative worlds of crypto communities and decentralized governance.Bridging Communication Studies and Anthropology, Ann’s research dives deep into the messy, ideological terrain of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs),alternative governance experiments, privacy, and the political imaginaries driving the crypto movement and specifically, the Ethereum ecosystem.
Her work doesn't stay confined to the ivory tower. Ann thrives at the intersection of academia and the crypto industry, where she collaborates on boundary-pushing projects and brings critical insights and ethics to an ecosystem often moving faster than it can reflect. With one foot in the field and the other in theory, she’s committed to decoding how digital publics are reimagining power, participation, and infrastructure in a time of planetary crisis and technological upheaval.
